It’s October – postseason – midseason – and for me, the best season. I don’t only love October for the fall weather, cozy sweaters and endless pumpkin flavoring but also it is my favorite time of year for sports.

This week, I have been able to watch both of my favorite sports (football and baseball) and the whipped cream atop the pumpkin pie is that both of my teams won in the same day – it doesn’t get much better than that! ICYMI– I am a Yankees fan and a Carolina Panthers fan both winning on the Sunday, October 8th.

Football is heading into week six – or better known as the one-third point in the season. We know how our favorite teams are doing and the players to keep an eye on every week (shout out to my fantasy people)!

Baseball – it’s the postseason. Everything is heating up and the playoffs have been incredible!

Here is a breakdown of the basics you need to know coming up in baseball –

1. And then there were four  – Chicago Cubs, LA Dodgers, New York Yankees, Houston Astros – teams left in the postseason

2. The Cubs won last year and if history repeats itself, it could happen again – until 2016 the Cubs hadn’t won a world series since 1908 – but they also won the previous year in 1907. Is 2017 another back-to-back win?

3. The Dodgers had the best record in baseball in the regular reason and are playing well in the postseason. The Dodgers and the Cubs met at this same time last season in the National League stand off. Obviously, the Dodgers lost. Could it be time for redemption?

4. The Yankees are a wildcard team meaning they made it into the postseason in a one game playoff against the Minnesota Twins. The last time a Wildcard team won the World Series was the San Francisco Giants in 2014.

5. The Astros have never won a World Series – putting Houston as the least decorated team in the playoffs (for reference, the Yankees have the most World Series wins with 27, Dodgers have 6 and the Cubs 3).
