Over Coffee Recap: NFL Week One
Oh what a weekend! I have good news for your Monday - whether it is when Starbucks releases Pumpkin Spice Lattes or week one kick off of professional football that marks the start of your fall, both are here! So...cheers to the best time of the year!
For all my sports ladies (or men!), here is your Monday morning recap of what happened on Sunday in the world of the NFL. I hope this helps you in your elevator ride, awkward moments at the coffee machine or your lunchtime chat with friends. Here are a few BIG things that happened yesterday:
1. The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers TIED in Overtime
Man, I hate it for the Browns. The team technically broke their 17 – game losing streak (not winning a game since Christmas 2016) without even winning. The teams tied 21-21.
2. Green Bay Packers with a COMEBACK
Aaron Rodgers, the beloved Green Bay Packers Quarterback, was carted off the field with a leg injury in the second quarter. At this point the Chicago Bears were up 20-0. Rodgers came back into the game, with a presumably injured foot and led the team to a 24-23 win on Sunday Night Football.
Side Note: Rodgers is dating Danica Patrick – most successful female ever in NASCAR. #GirlPower
3. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers upset the New Orleans Saints
The Tampa Bay Bucs, using their “backup” QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, pulled off a huge upset in New Orleans, 48-40. Both teams are in the NFC South, which is one of the strongest divisions in the NFL this season.
4. Cam Newton >>> Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are just a sad story this season (sorry, dad). The Carolina Panthers also didn’t have their best day but thank goodness Cam Newton was happy to be back on the field. Newton was the star on the field in Charlotte with almost as many rushing yards as the Cowboys running back, Ezekiel Elliott. Just throw that stat out. If you know nothing else, know it is impressive.
5. The Washington Redskins are back? Maybe.
Adrian Peterson, who use to be a star for the Vikings, broke rushing yard records and helped the Redskins beat the Arizona Cardinals 24-6.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the biggest games of Week 1! Would you like more details on the NFL?
