Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

Making a bucket list has never been a priority but I have what I refer to as a "life list". I make notes of things that I really want to "live out". For quite some time, one of those has been the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb. I was quite a fan of the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movies when I was younger. In their movie, "Our Lips are Sealed" they climbed the bridge. Movie credit here:

The trip up the bridge is quite expensive but I knew it would be worth it. My roommate Lauren and I decided to do the night climb. I love cities at night and this was the cheapest time ($263 Australian or around $200). We went through almost an hours worth of putting on gear, training, and "practice" before embarking on the climb. There was a group of 12. Lauren and i were the only non-Australian natives (kind of surprising for a tourist attraction).

I was a bit nervous at first (not the biggest fan of heights). Upon beginning the climb, I realized what a good decision I had made. The two hour climb gave us an incredible view of the Sydney Opera House, the city skyline, Luna Park (old amusement park), and an unplanned fireworks show in the harbour. We also made friends with two guys (the only other non-couple) in front of us and learned a lot about Australian culture along the way.

Honestly, this was one of the most joyful experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to pretend i was in a favorite childhood movie and it was pretty awesome. To all of you who have ambitions of doing something amazing, never give up. My experience is a fine example that you can make your dreams come true. Cheers mates!
